Genmaicha tea is a flavourful, smooth blend of sencha and roasted brown rice. The roasted rice was originally added by tea pickers to lengthen the tea and reduce the cost however it is now a popular blend enjoyed by all. The sugar and starch from the rice cause the tea to have a warm, full, nutty flavour and t is considered easy to drink and to make the stomach feel better. Tea steeped from genmaicha has a light yellow hue whilst its flavour is mild and combines the fresh grassiness of green tea with the aroma of the roasted rice.
